Spire Motorsports NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship Race Report 2026
By PGORDON
Spire Motorsports capped off the 2026 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season in Friday evening's CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship Race. Connor Mosack took the checkered flag 16th in the No. 7 Chevrolet. Nick Sanchez earned the pole position in the No. 77 Silverado, but a mechanical failure limited the team to a 35th-place finish. The No. 77 team rounds out the year sixth in The Owner's Chase standings while the No. 7 team finished ninth.
Mosack, driver of the No. 7 Friends of Jaclyn Chevrolet Silverado, started ninth and battled inconsistent handling throughout the first two stages, finishing 12th in both Stage 1 and Stage 2. The Charlotte, N.C., native entered the top 10 during the ensuing round of pit stops, but a late-race restart shuffled him through the order, ultimately relegated him to a 16th-place finish. Sanchez, driver of the No. 77 Modo Super Gaming App Silverado, earned his eighth-career pole positions in the afternoon's qualifying session. The 25-year-old driver led three times for 10 laps and earned of second- and third-place finishes in Stage 1 and Stage 2, respectively. The Miami native was forced to start the Final Stage at the tail of the field when an over-the-wall crew member encountered a pit gun malfunction. Sanchez battled his way back inside the top 10 before green-flag pit stops commenced. Shortly after hitting pit road, a mechanical issue caused the Modo Super Gaming App Chevrolet to catch fire and come to rest on the apron in Turn 1. Sanchez was ultimately credited with a disappointing 35th-place finish.
Following a three-month hiatus, the newly minted FedEx Freight Truck Series will return to competition with the annual, season-opening event at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Friday, Feb. 19th. The 250-mile race will be televised live on the Fox Sports family of networks. The first of 25 races on the 2026 series calendar will also be broadcast live on the NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
“Well, not the finish we wanted today. Overall, we worked our way in the top 10 there in the Final Stage, and were in a decent spot before the pit cycle started. I feel like we made the right adjustment and could have worked our way into the top five there, but unfortunately, we stayed out longer and right after we pitted, the caution came out. We had two lap fresher tires, and we decided to take a gamble and stay out and save a set in case we had a late caution. That would have given us a shot to win the race. But unfortunately, caution never came, and we just slowly bled with everybody on a little bit fresher tires than what we had. An unfortunate ending for us, but overall, it's been a great year, and hopefully, we get to do more in the future.”
“Obviously, it was an unfortunate ending, but I’m super proud of my Spire Motorsports team. I thought we had a really fast Modo Super Gaming App Chevy Silverado, we captured the pole, led some laps, and we were fighting for the win in Stage 1 and Stage 2, but ended our day with a mechanical issue. I’m proud of the No. 77 team for bringing me another fast truck, and it was a lot of fun to be up front contending again.”
